Frequently Asked Question
How much does the tax refund cost?
The tax refund service fee is £140 per tax return application, however the amount may differ if significantly less or more work is required.
How long does it take to get a tax refund?
Normally the whole process takes between 2 and 8 weeks, however it could take more if your file misses things, like National Insurance Number (NINO), P45, P60, or even if your employer has not submitted your employment details and payslips through RTI (Real Time Information) directly to HMRC.
What is a P45 form, a P60 form and what is the difference between the two?
Both forms are fiscal documents.
- P45 is the document that will be handed to you by your employer when you end your employment with them. It shows the company you worked for, the leaving date, the amount you have earned and the taxes you have paid.
- P60 is the document that confirms the end of a tax year. If you are still employed in the UK on 5 April, the company you work for has to issue a P60 for you. It provides you different details, but the most important ones are total pay for year and total tax for year. With these details you can check if you are due a refund using our Tax Calculator.
